What to bring

  • Before departure to the voluntary camp important «luggage» questions appear: which things to take, which you can do without. It depends on the camp and the place orientation in which it will be. But there are some general recommends.

  • Firstly, it is documents (passport), tickets and money. Without them you wont reach anything. Check the dates on the visa and the tickets. If the date of your arrival is earlier than the date of opening of the visa you will not let out from the country. Very often the embassies give the visas which dates do not coincide with dates onthe tickets. On the border , they usually ask what sum of money do you have with you. Suspicions can cause too big (some thousand euro, for example), and too small amount of money. Though they dont check money always. It is better to learn in advance what minimum of money you should possess at border crossing.

  • Secondly, pay attentio to bedclothes: a sleeping bag, tent for camps (if it is not given by organizers); bed-clothes for hotel accommodation or a hostel. By the way, the sleeping bag sometimes can be a good replacement of bed-clothes: in a backpack it will save room and weight.

  • Clothes and footwear. Certainly, the footwear should be convenient. make sure in advance in the Internet the weather in the country/region of your staying. It will be moret convenient for you to wear sportswear and sneakers. It is not recommended to take footwear on a high heel – inconveniently, hard and besides you will feel as an outsider among Europeans. the same concerns dresses and skirts. Clothes of several kinds: easy and warm for work, the same for the rest (rest, trips), for sleeping( do not forget that nights can be cold). Probably, the raincoat is neccessary.more Underwear and socks . it may happen you will not wash them everyday but the become dirty quick. A suitcase or a backpack its up to you to decide. If the camp in the wood or a mountain district a backpack is more pertinent, if in city boundaries – that is a suitcase is more convenient .

  • Infisheet is usually sent to a volunteer bebore whre the list of necessary things will be specified. Do not forget it as there the necessary information: how to reach the place, who, where and when will you meet and etc.

  • Dont forget the Contacts of Belarussian embassy of a country of your destination . In case of the loss of documents or other emergencies, probably, you should address the embassy as its in their competence to support and protect the rights of citizens of RP at territory of a foreign state.
  • Probably, in your camp there will be an intercultural party where everyone will have possibility to tell about the country, to show a flag, pictures, to give as a keepsake cards and souvenires to new friends and bring national drinks and meal. Disks with music can be useful, and also ethnic cuisine recipes – more often volunteers in a camp prepare independently, and it is interesting to everyone to try cuisines of different countries .
  • Towel and subjects of personal hygiene. there is no possibility do without them, of course, but remember that the you will carry your luggage by yourself. Therefore it is better to take testers and small small bottles. If the project takes place in a village, a flashlight would be usefull
